Welcome to my blog! I love travel, culture, food, and photography and created the TG blog to share it with the Internet. I am a reading specialist at a middle school in the USA and spend the rest of my time seeking out adventures across the world. I share those adventures and experiences here at the TG. I hope you enjoy this little space!
My name is Nikki and I love to travel and explore.
Whether it be growing up in South Africa - where a spirit for adventure is essential to survival - or watching my father globe-trot from afar, or just wanting to experience as many lives as possible - travel has become my passion! My family and friends know that I love to learn (you have to enjoy it somewhat after 7 years of studying), but I think that learning about other cultures, other cities, other countries, and their various diverse peoples and history, is my passion. You know the saying "walk a mile in another's shoes”? That’s me, I love that. As part of my psychology background, I think I just love to get under the skin and on the inside of everything, and experience as much as possible.
I was born and raised in South Africa and lived there all my life. After finishing high school, I spent more of my time studying. Another seven years and I had my Masters in Educational Psychology and was a qualified psychologist in South Africa. Of course, this meant I had very LITTLE time or money for travel. I was however fortunate to travel with my family when I was a kid. My parents are from England, so many school holidays were spent visiting my family in the UK. My father also traveled a lot for his business and I envied him, even at a young age. I always knew one day that I would set out to travel as much as he did.
At the age of 24, after living on my own without any family (BUT wonderful friends and neighbors), I moved to the US. This was to join my family who had moved here several years previously. With family in the US and England, it meant I was fortunate enough to get to do a lot of traveling.
What I also love about traveling is being able to share it with others. When friends or family visit me, I love playing tour guide, whether they like it or not! Apart from that, I work as a reading teacher in New York City. Education, in my opinion, changes your life. Your access to knowledge and learning is your access to empowerment and to a better life, including one where you can help others.
Anyways! I hope you learned all you wanted to about me. My page is about sharing my travel experiences and offering advice. The pages on this site are to be filled with reviews, advice, tips, and my experiences. I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for your interest in working with me. The Traveling Ginger is a constantly growing travel and foodie blog. It shares information on travel, living as an expat, photography, and eating as much food from as many destinations as possible. I offer destination tips and share personal experiences of traveling across the world. I have a few travel goals: to visit as many countries as I possibly can and to cook food from every country in the world - all the while documenting my experiences and my showing my photography while juggling a full-time job in education.
I like to pursue any kind of local and international possible wherever I am traveling to. I am passionate about new experiences and new adventures, something to photograph, and something to share the world with. Let me promote you! I aim to provide high-quality, interesting photography and helpful content to showcase your brand, experience, hotel, restaurant, city, or country. I am always on the lookout for services and products that will help my readers and that will encourage them to get out and experience the world.
I offer exposure in various mediums: my blog and website, social media, including Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.
